Program Description

Body

Few know that tiny New Brighton played a major role in helping guide enslaved people to freedom. The New Brighton Historical Society has unearthed the legacy, the historical figures involved, and the rare locations still in existence. Together we will explore these locations and learn how they helped the anti-slavery movement.

Join J. Michael Spratt, president of the New Brighton Historical Society, to learn about the Townsend, Irish, Stantons and others who risked it all to help runaways escape to freedom.
